UAE announces free extension for widow and divorcee

The UAE government has approved a one-year free extension for the stay of a widow or divorcee (foreigner), including children.

According to the Emirati newspaper, the one-year extension of the stay of a widow or divorcee will be conditional on the extension of the stay of the fulfilling woman.

The concerned authorities, while explaining the procedure for obtaining an extension of stay, said that an application should be made to the agency supervising the residence of foreigners in which all the documentary evidence regarding divorce or widowhood should be attached.

In case of divorce, the non-maintenance of wife and children and their financial needs should be ensured. Medical examination reports of women and children above 18 years of age should be attached with the application.
