Swedish cartoonist Lars Volks, the creator of the blasphemous cartoon of the last prophet of Islam, Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH), was killed in a car accident on Sunday.
Police officers who were deployed for his security were also killed in the incident.
Volks published the blasphemous sketches in social media and newspapers in 2007, and his blasphemous portrayal caused a stir in the Muslim world.
According to Swedish police, Wilkes, 75, was travelling by two policemen assigned to his body when his car collided with a speeding truck.
Swedish officials say the incident is being treated like any other road accident, ruling out the possibility of wrongdoing.
The investigation into the crash has reportedly been assigned to a special section of the prosecutor’s office as two policemen also lost their lives.
The accident took place near (Markride) when Volks was travelling in a car with his security guards when his car collided with a truck. The truck driver was injured in the accident and was taken to hospital.
