The grand awards ceremony at the Borough Council of Rochdale was held last night at the Riverside Council Office

Bloom Awards RHS – The Royal Horticultural Society North West hosted and presided over the Mayor of Rochdale Asim Rashid Awards Ceremony.

The Borough Council of Rochdale won a staggering 16 Gold Awards and 8 additional trophies. Rochdale pulled it out of the bag once again at this year’s Northwest in Bloom Awards when the judges considered it a choice of a display of flowers and a bunch of spectacular parks.
After what could only be described as a difficult year, council and community volunteers were withdrawing eight impressive gold awards at Rochdale, said Bernard Pendleton, chairman of Northwest in Bloom, on Thursday, November 4. I presented at an awards ceremony.
In the Bloom Group, Rochdale won the Gold Award in the ‘Small Town’ category and the ‘Best Town Center’ in the Northwest.

In a new entry this year, judges visited five Rochdale mosques for mosques at the Bloom Initiative. Five mosques – Blue Mosque, Central Mosque, Golden Mosque, Jalalia Mosque and Bilal Mosque – were visited in collaboration with the Rochdale Council of Mosques – with Bilal Mosque topping the list and receiving a gold award
For the first time, a special trophy was presented to Israr-ul-Haq by the Amani Initiative for outstanding contribution. The Bill Black Ledge MBE Chairman’s Award was presented to him in recognition of his work in the local community and mosques in Bloom.
Councilors Billy Shereen and Imran Aslam were also awarded “Outstanding Services in Bloom North-West”.

Boom Pub at Rochdale and Nutter restaurants won the Gold Medal for the ‘Short Residence’ award. The Hale Dale Heritage Center and Tea Rooms won the Gold Top Position for ‘Small Tourist Attractions’ and Norden Jubilee Park once again won the Gold Award in the Best Pocket Park category.
Norden in Bloom, which entered the stand-alone village this year, captivated the incoming judges by claiming the ‘Best Newcomer award and the gold medal for ‘Big Village’, which means coming only for 2022. Can be big things.
Danny Horst Park also had awards for its charming display and high-quality care, which won a Silver Gilt Award in the ‘Big Park’ category. Kirkholt also won a Silver Gilt at the Urban Community Awards, and the Stony Hill Community Wildlife Area won the Best Biodiversity Award.
Zen Internet won the Gold Award for ‘Best Small Industrial Park’, and local resident Luka Hagenson won the ‘Young Bloomer of the Year’ award for his work on the Caledonian Wild Flower Meadow.
Apart from Mayor of Rochdale Councilor Asim Rasheed, Chair Town Councilor Shakeel Ahmed, Deputy Leader Councilor Adalat Ali, Councilor Samina Zaheer, Councilor Billy Shereen were also present on the occasion.
