The Pakistan High Commission London cricket team participated in the Pakistan Overseas Cricket Cup Tournament on July 11, 2021, and reached the final. The tournament was played at the Australian Cricket Ground in London.
High Commissioner Moazzam Ahmad Khan along with his wife Ambassador Lena Saleem Moazzam and local MP Ms Ruth Cadbury attended the function along with local cricket fans.
High Commissioner Moazzam Ahmed Khan, who himself has played first-class cricket in the past, was part of the High Commission cricket team. Other teams include Bestway Group, UKPCCI and United Lawyers Society.
Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner Moazzam Ahmad Khan thanked the organizers for making the best arrangements for the match.” Sports events are a useful tool of public diplomacy and serve as a bridge between societies,” he said. He added that the High Commission has always encouraged sports activities to bring together different parties.
Ms Ruth Cadbury, MP, welcomed the teams to the local ground and said she was looking forward to more healthy activities.” Apart from many other common interests, cricket has brought our two people together,” he said.
After the matches, High Commissioner Moazzam Ahmed Khan and Ms Ruth Cadbury MP distributed prizes.
Teams and local cricket fans enjoyed the day while maintaining the necessary social distance.
