The order was issued to regulate 3D printing in Dubai’s construction sector

Dubai (Bureau Report)

Vice President Prime Minister Hakim Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, has issued Decree No. 24 of 2021 to regulate the use of 3D printing in the construction sector in Dubai.

The Municipality of Dubai will be responsible for the implementation of this order. The new law will support the Emirate’s strategic goal of constructing 25% of buildings by 2030 using 3D technology. A regional and global hub in the field of technologies, in a broader context, will lead to the adoption of modern technologies within Dubai and boost economic growth, increase efficiency and effectiveness in construction projects, and increase the competitiveness of local industries. The losses will be minimized and prominent companies in the sector will be encouraged to come forward. An organization wishing to work in 3D printing will have to register with the Municipality of Dubai and obtain a license from other authorities before the necessary approvals.

Real estate developers will ensure that 3D-related projects are built only by licensed contractors. Under it, all laws that contradict it will be considered null and void. The new order will take effect immediately.
