UK: Oldham prominent religious and social figure Haji Bashir Ahmed buried in the local cemetery

Haji Bashir Ahmed, a prominent religious social figure in Oldham, UK, and chairman of Oldham’s largest religious institution and Nigina Jama Masjid Oldham, passed away suddenly yesterday.

His funeral prayers were offered at the local ground by Maulana Qari Khadim Hussain Chishti, a prominent British and Pakistani cleric, and he was buried in the local Oldham Cemetery.

Social and religious figure Haji Bashir Ahmed (late) was the uncle of Fayyaz Bashir, a social and senior journalist from Oldham, and the father of social and religious figure Ijaz Bashir and the uncle of former Oldham Mayor Atiqur Rehman.

Funeral prayers were attended by Chaudhry Bashir Rattavi, Chairman, Muslim Conference UK Europe Board, Deputy Leader Rochdale Councilor Adalat Ali, PML-Q UK Vice President Rizwan Hashmi, Councilors of Oldham Council Muhammad Ilyas, Shahid Mushtaq, Dr Zahid Chauhan, Former Mayor Councilor Javed Iqbal, former Mayor Councilor Fida Hussain, senior journalists Ishaq Chaudhry, Mehboob Elahi Butt, Raja Wajid Khan Aitzaz Asim, Naeem Chauhan, Pervez Chaudhry, Arif Pandhir and a large number of Oldham community attended.

On the death of Haji Bashir Ahmed, Members of British Parliament Afzal Khan, Lord Wajid Khan, Mayor Rochdale Asim Rashid, Consul General in Pakistan Consulate General Tariq Wazir, Commercial Trade Secretary Tri Chaudhry Muhammad Akhtar, President of Slim League N Greater Manchester Raja Sajjad Hussain, Pakistan Tehreek Justice UK President Rana Abdul Sattar, Senior Vice President Malik Imran Khalil, PTI North West President Asif Rashid Butt and business, political, social and international personality Chaudhry Khalid expressed their heartfelt condolences to Fayyaz Bashir and Ijaz Bashir.
