The UAE on Sunday announced a new visa that allows foreigners to work in the country without an employer-sponsored one. The visa also relaxes housing regulations to boost economic growth. Announcing the new visa, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Sani bin Ahmed Al Zayudi said: “This is for highly skilled individuals, investors, businessmen, entrepreneurs as well as students and postgraduates with exceptional abilities. Holders of new green visas will be able to work without company sponsorship, as well as sponsoring their parents and children up to the age of 25. The new visa scheme is one of 50 initiatives the UAE is taking to mark its 50th National Day. The UAE issued a 10-year Golden Visa in 2019, the first of its kind in the Gulf. It should be noted that 90% of the population of the UAE consists of foreigners.
