Overseas Pakistanis sent home a record 2.66 billion last month. This is the 15th consecutive month when more than 2 billion was repatriated by these Pakistanis.
According to the data released by the Central Bank of Pakistan, the foreign exchange received by Pakistan in the first two months of the current financial year has reached 5.36 billion. That’s 10.4 per cent more than in the same period last year.
In August, the largest remittances came from Saudi Arabia at 694 million, followed by the UAE at 512 million.
In addition, 353 million from the United Kingdom and 279 million from the United States were repatriated by Pakistanis.
It should be noted that Pakistan received 29.5 billion from overseas Pakistanis during the last financial year, while this foreign exchange is expected to exceed 31 billion during the current financial year.
The government of Pakistan considers the increase in foreign exchange as its economic performance.
