Abu Dhabi (Special Report)
At a time when the UAE is preparing to become the world’s leading destination for tourists in the next six months during “Expo 2020 Dubai”, the local hotel industry has regained the pre-epidemic reservation rate.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) says the total number of tourists visiting the UAE rose to 2.5 million in August 2021, up 207% from 814,000 in the same period in 2020.
According to a statement issued by Emirates News Agency (WAM), August saw an increase in air travel. There were 45,953 flights.
According to tourism experts, the coming period will be a real breakthrough for the tourism sector, which has recently regained its balance after a series of important decisions by the UAE government, including fully vaccinated people. It is important to allow them to apply for an entry visa.
In two weeks, the UAE will launch “Expo 2020 Dubai”, one of the largest events in the world. The exhibition will make the UAE a top tourist destination in the next six months. The expo is expected to attract more than 25 million domestic and foreign tourists, which will help boost the tourism sector and have a positive impact on many other sectors, including aviation and transport.
Hotel reservations in the UAE are already on the rise ahead of Expo 2020 Dubai. Hotel booking website Vigo has registered more than 500,000 searches for flights to Dubai and hotel reservations during the event.
