{"id":16245,"date":"2022-07-27T01:39:39","date_gmt":"2022-07-27T01:39:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/undergroundnews.co.uk\/?p=16245"},"modified":"2022-07-27T01:39:41","modified_gmt":"2022-07-27T01:39:41","slug":"scientists-discover-protein-that-triggers-baldness-and-lease-to-regrowth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/undergroundnews.co.uk\/?p=16245&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Scientists discover protein that triggers baldness and lease to regrowth"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Mishaal Arshad C.M Underground News<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>TGF-beta controls division, development of new cells in hair follicles and also dies on its own,\u00a0which kills whole hair follicle.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Scientists are still uncertain why follicles kill themselves<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Discovery of TGF-beta could also one day lead to future research on curing baldness.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-cnvs-separator-id-1658885680344\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers from the University of California discovered a protein that controls \u201clife and death\u201d in hair follicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new study allowed scientists to get a closer look at how stem cells \u2014 which can adapt to other cells \u2014 repair damaged tissue or organs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn science fiction when characters heal quickly from injuries, the idea is that stem cells allowed it,\u201d said UC Riverside mathematical biologist and study co-author, Qixuan Wang, in a media release.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn real life, our new research gets us closer to understanding stem cell behaviour, so that we can control it and promote wound healing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The protein, called TGF-beta, controls the division and development of new cells in hair follicles and also dies on its own \u2014 which kills the whole hair follicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTGF-beta has two opposite roles. It helps activate some hair follicle cells to produce new life, and later, it helps orchestrate apoptosis, the process of cell death,\u201d Wang said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, scientists are still uncertain why follicles kill themselves. Some believe it is linked to how animals shed fur to survive hot summer temperatures or when certain reptiles camouflage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEven when a hair follicle kills itself, it never kills its stem cell reservoir.
