{"id":16892,"date":"2022-08-01T15:51:06","date_gmt":"2022-08-01T15:51:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/undergroundnews.co.uk\/?p=16892"},"modified":"2022-08-01T15:51:14","modified_gmt":"2022-08-01T15:51:14","slug":"imran-khan-announces-peaceful-protest-outside-ecp-on-thursday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/undergroundnews.co.uk\/?p=16892&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Imran Khan announces &#8216;peaceful protest&#8217; outside ECP on Thursday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mishaal Arshad C.M Underground News<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Imran Khan says he will work on party&#8217;s ideology as members are still not familiar with it.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>He berates coalition govt for having to ask army chief to make phone calls to fix economic woes.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>PTI chief says reason Pakistan is not growing was that &#8220;ruling parties had no ideology.&#8221;<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ISLAMABAD: PTI Chairperson and former prime minister Imran Khan Monday announced to hold a peaceful protest outside of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday, demanding Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja\u2019s resignation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing the members at the PTI&#8217;s national council meeting in the federal capital, the former prime minister demanded that the election commission refrains from conducting the next general elections under any circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The party chairperson said that he will hold elections within his party after the general elections to ensure meritocracy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Khan said that he will work on the party&#8217;s ideology as members are still not familiar with it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I realised in these four months that our party members do not know about its ideology,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Khan went on to say that the PTI chose its leaders through the Insaf Students Federation (ISF) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by holding elections within the federation. &#8220;We are going to follow the same electoral process as that of ISF to choose leaders based on merit,&#8221; said the former PM.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Comparing his party with the PML-N and PPP, Khan said that there was no concept of merit within these parties and this is why these parties have reduced in size instead of growing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former prime minister said that he wanted electronic voting machines (EVMs) for free and fair elections but the chief election commissioner (CEC) tried every way possible to sabotage it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The ruling parties disagreed with holding elections through EVMs because they wanted to rig the elections. Before the by-elections in Punjab, our party was the only one preparing to stop the polls from getting rigged,&#8221; he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Berating the coalition government, Khan said that other parties&nbsp;looted the country in the last ten years and&nbsp;destabilised it. &#8220;These parties were not interested in rectifying the economy or reducing inflation but were only interested in obtaining the NRO-II.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is one big reason why Pakistan is not moving forward and it&#8217;s because these people have no ideology and are only hungry for power. &#8220;Their only motto is to preserve money and nothing more than that,&#8221; he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PTI chief said that the inflation rate in March was 17% but now, it has increased to 38%.
